Firearms Safety

At Right to Carey, safety is our highest priority. We are committed to promoting responsible firearm ownership through education, training, and adherence to fundamental safety principles.

Fundamental Firearm Safety Rules

  1. Treat Every Firearm As If It Were Loaded
    • Always assume any firearm you handle is loaded until you personally verify it is unloaded
    • Check and re-check the chamber and magazine when handling any firearm
  2. Always Keep the Muzzle Pointed in a Safe Direction
    • Never point a firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot
    • Be aware of your muzzle direction at all times
    • Remember that walls, floors, and ceilings are not always safe directions
  3. Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger Until Ready to Shoot
    • Rest your trigger finger along the frame outside the trigger guard until you’re ready to fire
    • Develop this habit for all firearms handling, not just when shooting
  4. Be Sure of Your Target and What’s Beyond It
    • Identify your target clearly before shooting
    • Be aware of what lies beyond your target
    • Remember that most ammunition can penetrate walls and travel long distances

Safe Storage

Proper firearm storage is essential for preventing accidents and unauthorized access:

  • Store firearms unloaded and secured in a locked container or with a locking device
  • Store ammunition separately from firearms
  • Use quality gun safes, lock boxes, or trigger/cable locks
  • Ensure storage methods are inaccessible to unauthorized users, especially children
