Welcome to Our Training Programs

We offer comprehensive firearms training for all skill levels, from first-time shooters to experienced instructors. Our courses are taught by NRA Certified Instructors and meet all Texas state requirements for License to Carry certification.

NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation

Perfect for absolute beginners! This introductory course covers the basics of pistol shooting in a friendly, non-intimidating environment.

You’ll learn: Firearm safety rules, pistol parts and operation, ammunition basics, shooting fundamentals, and range procedures.

Duration: 4 hours

Certification: NRA Certified

Live Fire: yes

Participant Age: no age limit, under 18 must have a parent or guardian present.

 

 

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

An introduction to pistol shooting for new shooters. This course provides the knowledge and skills needed to safely handle and shoot a pistol.

You’ll learn: Gun safety rules, proper handling, shooting fundamentals, pistol maintenance, and live-fire training on the range.

Duration: 8 hours (classroom + range time)

Certification: NRA Certified

Participant Age: no age limit, under 18 must have a parent or guardian present.

♦ MSD Defense Pistol Refresher Training

Designed for shooters who want a refresher on safety, fundamentals, handling malfunctions, loading/unloading and range time.

You’ll practice: Marksmanship fundamentals, draw techniques, malfunction clearing, tactical reloads, and defensive shooting scenarios.

Duration: 2 hours

♦ NRA Carrying Concealed Weapon (CCW) Course

Learn the essential skills and legal knowledge required for carrying a concealed firearm responsibly.

You’ll learn: Firearm safety, basic defensive pistol skills, drawing from concealment, mindset, responding to an attack and aftermath, carry modes, etc.

Duration: 8 hours

Certification: NRA Certified

♦ NRA Defensive Pistol Course

Advanced training focused on using a pistol for personal defense. Emphasizes defensive shooting techniques and decision-making under stress.

You’ll learn: Defensive mindset, threat assessment, shooting on the move, use of cover, multiple targets, and stress inoculation.

Duration: 8-10 hours

Certification: NRA Certified

Participant Age: must be 18 or older

♦ NRA Personal Protection in the Home

This course includes comprehensive training for defending yourself and your family within your home environment. 

You’ll learn: Home security strategies, safe room concepts, firearm storage and access, low-light shooting, legal aspects of home defense. 

Duration: 8 hours

Certification: NRA Certified

Participant Age: must be 18 or older

Pre-requisite: NRA Basics of Pistol, First Steps Pistol Orientation, DD214 with shooting quailification or pass a pre-course assessment. 

♦ NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home

Advanced personal protection course focusing on defensive situations outside your home. 

You’ll learn: Situational awareness, threat avoidance, legal use of force, drawing from concealment, shooting while moving, and real-world scenarios.

Duration: 10-14 hours

Prerequisite: NRA Personal Protection in the Home or equivalent

Certification: NRA Certified

Prerequisite: NRA Personal Protection In-Home Course

♦ NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) Course

Become a certified NRA Range Safety Officer! This course trains individuals to supervise shooting and range operations safely.

You’ll learn: Range standard operating procedures, range inspection, emergency procedures, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and RSO duties and responsibilities.

Upon completion: You’ll receive NRA Range Safety Officer certification, valid for 2 years.

Duration: 8 hours

Who should attend: Range operators, club officers, competition organizers, or anyone interested in range safety management.

Certification: NRA Range Safety Officer

Participant Age: 21 or older

No Live Fire

♦ In-Person Texas LTC Course

Complete your Texas License to Carry certification in one day with our comprehensive in-person course.

Course includes: Texas gun laws, use of force, conflict resolution, handgun safety, proper storage, and shooting proficiency demonstration.

Duration: 4-6 hours (classroom + range qualification)

What you get: LTC-104 certificate required for your Texas LTC application. 

Certification: Texas LTC

Participant Age: 18 or older 

♦ Online LTC Classroom Portion

Complete the classroom portion of your Texas LTC at your own pace through MSDDefense at msddefense.com

Covers: All required classroom instruction including laws, use of force, handgun safety, and conflict resolution.

Convenience: Study on your schedule, accessible 24/7 from any device.

Next step: Schedule your in-person shooting qualification after completion.

Note: You must still complete the shooting qualification in person.

Certification: Texas LTC Online Classroom

♦ LTC Shooting Qualification

For students who completed the online classroom portion – complete your Texas LTC shooting proficiency requirement.

Qualification: 50 rounds at distances of 3, 7, and 15 yards. Minimum score of 70% required.

Duration: 45 min – 1 hour

What to bring: Your online course completion certificate, handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection.

Certification: Texas LTC

♦ HR 218 LEOSA Qualification

Qualification course for retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed nationwide under federal law.

Eligibility: Retired law enforcement officers with 10+ years of service or separated due to service-connected disability after any length of service.

Qualification: Meet state standards for active duty law enforcement firearms qualification.

Certification: Annual qualification required. We provide the required documentation upon successful completion.

What to bring: Retired LEO credentials, firearm(s) to qualify with, ammunition, eye and ear protection.

Important: You must provide proof of retired law enforcement status.

Certification: Federal LEOSA
